Don’t Let Today’s Workout Ruin Tomorrow’s

Let’s talk about something important today: how to ensure that today’s workout doesn’t sabotage tomorrow’s progress. If you’re like me, passionate about pushing yourself in the gym, lifting heavy, and mastering new skills like muscle-ups and handstand walks, you know the thrill of challenging your limits.

But here’s the reality check: sometimes, our competitive nature can lead us astray. I admit it—I’m guilty of saying I’ll take it easy, only to find myself gearing up for an intense session at the last minute. It’s like a switch flips, and I’m all in.

However, there are days when things aren’t quite right. Maybe you didn’t sleep well, or your muscles are tighter than usual. It’s during these moments that we face a crucial decision—a red pill or blue pill moment, if you will. Will you acknowledge your body’s signals, adjust your training smartly, and prioritize long-term sustainability (the red pill)? Or will you stubbornly push through, risking burnout and setbacks (the blue pill)?

The lesson here is clear: to train hard, you must train sustainably.

It’s about giving your best effort based on what your body can realistically handle each day. If that means dialing it back to 30% effort when you’re not at your peak, then giving 30% is giving it your all for that day. Don’t let your ego or external expectations dictate your workout intensity.

And remember, you’re not alone in this journey. Whether it’s a supportive coach, a community of like-minded individuals, or friends who understand your goals, having a support system can make all the difference. They’re there to help you navigate challenges, bounce back from setbacks, and stay accountable to your long-term objectives.

So, let’s commit together: let’s strive to train hard, but let’s do it smartly. Let’s prioritize sustainable progress over immediate gains. By embracing this mindset, listening to our bodies, and trusting the process, we set ourselves up for success not just today, but in all the workouts to come.
